When we first began this journey in 2018 neither Adam nor I ever intended to ask anybody for funding. We both wanted this to be something that grew organically with community support. As time has passed, challenges have risen and have been overcome; we've learned and grew from this experience. The ultimate goal of Unigrid is to bring something to the people of the world that they own, can contribute to, and nurture. We have formed The Unigrid Foundation as an umbrella to protect this network from internal and external influences. This means that the network will live on, independent of outside forces and be in the hands of the community that utilizes it.

We as founding members have decided it's now the best approach to secure the network by asking for outside help. Over the next month we will be opening up a sale portal to allow anyone to contribute to the development of the network which can be accessed here sale.unigrid.org

Being that we are already a functioning blockchain there are no restrictions by specific countries on who can and cannot contribute. What will happen is that each contribution made will immediately be given the private keys to their tokens after the sale, so this is just a swap of one token to another. We welcome members from all over the globe to contribute and help us fulfill the dream of a truly decentralized Internet.

Unigrid is the next natural step in the evolution of the Internet. A load balanced network that is completely anonymous and resistant to eavesdropping. The segmented design enables cloud services and applications that guarantee 100% uptime with full data redundancy.

When you save something on the future Unigrid network it will be permanent. The network stores your data and spreads it out in encrypted shards, saving pieces in countless locations. Only you, as the owner of the data, can remove it from the network.

Anybody can contribute resources to the network by hosting a gridnode (a service node), supplying bandwidth, compute cycles and storage space These nodes are rewarded by the Unigrid network for their work.

Utility token

The purpose of the token itself is pure utility. As requests for services are made on the network the Unigrid token will be used as a method of approving those services. This will support the network and enable rapid payments and a network economy. In order to run a gridnode a specific amount of UGD the token will be required. As more nodes come online the amount required drops. Ultimately we envision seeing millions of nodes online and working together.

Monopolizing cloud providers overcharge customers and provide a lacking and centralized service. Because of this, websites and services on the Internet are constantly being disrupted, with downtimes being a regular occurrence.

Unigrid will provide the world with a global and democratic network with redundant storage and services. A network run by the people, for the people.

Together, the two original founders of the The Unigrid Foundation have over half a century of experience within computer science and software engineering. Coupled with over a decade of experience developing enterprise software and many years operating a data center, we have the skill set and history required for the task ahead.

With our partner, Ejwa Hosting AB, The Unigrid Foundation operates a data center in central Gothenburg. This allows the foundation to support the community, network and project with infrastructure and gridnodes. With a connection to a 10TB/s backbone, our data center can support any future traffic requirements.

With a diverse team with decades of experience, The Unigrid Foundation is ready to deliver a new era in cloud computing and the Internet.

Tokenomics

Additional tokens will be minted in order to reach a total supply of 150 million tokens. After the three sales round very few additional tokens will be minted via Proof-of-Stake consensus.

Out of the tokens minted for the sale, there is no token distribution to any team members or founders. Instead, a portion of the tokens are placed under the careful care of The Unigrid Foundation in adherence with the charter.

Decentralize Comic NFT

To help market Unigrid and the idea behind a decentralized internet we have also been working on an NFT project. The project is called Decentralize and will be available at decentralize.wtf when ready.

Each issue release will have a limited amount of 100 mints. Once that issue is minted a few weeks later we release a new issue of another 100. This will run in perpetuity with Unigrid as we tell the story of our journeys and trials and tribulations. We have also chosen to use the Polygon network to release these so people don't have to pay high gas fees when minting.
